A Brief History - Nineveh Magazine is published quarterly by the Assyrian Foundation of America, based in Berkeley, California. Originally launched in 1977 as a monthly newsletter titled Nineveh West, it was first edited by Julius N. Shabbas and Dr. Joel Elias. In 1978, the magazine transitioned to a bound format and adopted the name Nineveh, with Youel A. Baaba assuming the role of editor. The following year, Sargon Michael took over as editor for one year. From 1980 to 1983, Julius N. Shabbas served as the editor, with Dr. Elias as assistant editor. From 1983 through the third quarter of 1985, George Bet-Shlimon and Ninos David held editorial responsibilities. Starting in the fourth quarter of 1985 and continuing through to the end of 2000, Julius Shabbas and Dr. Elias resumed joint editorial duties. In 2001, Dr. Robert Karoukian became editor and remained in the role until 2009. In 2010, Dr. Ninwe Maraha assumed the editorship of Nineveh.
